FirstSeed Notes User Guide

Notes

Create, Edit, Delete

To create a note, select "New Note" from the "..." menu at the top right of the note list screen. On iPhone or iPad, you can also tap or drag the + button at the bottom right of the screen. On Mac, click the "+" button in the toolbar, or move the mouse cursor to the left edge of the note list screen where the edge of a note will appear — click it to create a new note.

To edit a section, tap or click the section title on the board screen to enter section editing mode.

To delete a section, tap or click the "…" button to the right of the section title on the board screen and select "Delete Section" from the menu.

Note Input

You can open and edit a note by tapping or double-clicking it.

The toolbar on the note editing screen is divided into two types. One is for insert controls, which allow you to insert ToDos, lists, images, horizontal rules, and more. The other is for format controls, which allow you to format text with headers, bold, blocks, quotes, and more.

On iPhone, insert controls appear on the left side above the keyboard, and format controls appear on the right side. On iPad or Mac, insert controls appear at the top of the editing screen, and format controls appear on the right side.

Markdown Input

Notes can also be entered using Markdown. For example, surrounding text with ** formats it as bold, or typing a hyphen and space at the beginning of a line creates a list.

You can also select text and copy it in Markdown format, or paste text written in Markdown to format it.

Customization

Various options are available in the app's Settings > Editor. For example, you can adjust the font size and line spacing, and also configure whether the first line of a note is treated as a title or as body text.

You can also specify the link style and the font used for blocks.

Additionally, you can display favorites and recent notes buttons at the top right of the editor screen. On iPhone, where it takes more steps to open a different note, you can directly open another favorite note or quickly access recently opened notes from the editor screen.

Mini Editor

The "Mini Editor" feature is available in the app's settings. On iPhone, you can display it by shaking the device, and on Mac, a button to display the mini editor appears in the menu bar.

The mini editor can be used to quickly open frequently used notes or temporarily reference recent notes.

Search

You can display the search function from the "..." menu at the top right of the note editing screen. You can search for text within the note by keyword, or tap/click the magnifying glass button to perform find and replace.
