Before a meeting, you open your calendar to check the time. Once it starts, you switch to a notes app to write down what is said. Then the next appointment comes to mind, so it's back to the calendar — and back to the notes app again to add something. Your schedule and your notes belong to the same day, yet they live in separate apps, so the back and forth never stops.

Your whole day, on a single page

A single screen stacks the week calendar, the day's events and the day's note. Write while you look at your schedule, and turn the page left or right to go to yesterday or tomorrow. Because plans and records stay on the same page, finding something later is just a matter of following the date.

Drag the divider between your events and your note to change the balance. Give your schedule more room on busy days, or the note more room when you want to focus on writing. When the events area gets small, the timeline switches to a list automatically. Add a checkbox to your note and it becomes one of today's todos.

02Calendar integration

Works with the calendar you already use

Events and reminders are read and written directly from the Calendar and Reminders on your device. Your iCloud, Google, Exchange and other accounts appear exactly as they are, so there is no data to migrate and no need to give up the apps you use now. It works happily alongside FirstSeed Calendar or any other calendar app.

Creating and editing events happens right in the app. Pick a location from a map, and set up repeats and alerts on the spot. Turning an event into a reminder or moving it to another date is a single action from the menu. You can also create, reorder and share calendars.

03Notes

Whatever the day calls for

Along with text, you can place photos right on the page. On iPad, you can write with Apple Pencil too. Checkboxes, lists, five highlight colors, and bold, underline and strikethrough formatting are all there.

Use it as a journal, for meeting notes, as a health log, a childcare record or lecture notes — how you write is up to you. You can also select text in a note and turn it straight into an event or a reminder.

04Calendar views

A calendar inside the page — or filling the screen

A calendar is built into the day page, so you can move between dates while keeping your events and your note in view. Tap the handle and it expands into a month calendar on the spot. Check something further ahead, then write straight back into today's page — the whole round trip happens on one screen.

The full-screen calendar switches between 3-day, week and month views. Look over the month, then open the page for the day you want, just like flipping through a paper planner.

05iPad

Two-page spreads on iPad

On a wide screen, the calendar sits on the left and the planner page on the right. Pick a date in the calendar and the page on the right switches to that day, so you can keep writing the day's note while looking over the week or the month.

Switch to the spread view to put two days side by side, or split a single day into a page for your schedule and a page for your notes. It keeps all the clarity of opening a paper planner.

06Open items

Nothing you wrote down gets lost

Overdue reminders and unfinished todos left on past pages collect in the Open Items list. Move them to today's or tomorrow's page all at once, with no copying by hand. Carrying an unfinished todo over to the next day takes a single tap.

Search looks through events, reminders and notes at once and groups the results by date. You can also look back at past pages from the monthly lists of notes and photos.

07Widgets

Widgets, without opening the app

Eight widgets are available for the Home Screen: Planner, Events, Events & Todos, Month Calendar, Month Calendar & Notes, Todos, Open Items and Notes. For each one, you can choose what it shows and for which date.

Check off todos and complete reminders right from the widget, without opening the app.

08PDF and Markdown export

Print it when you want it on paper

Choose a range of dates and export those pages as PDF or Markdown. The PDF is not a copy of the screen: it is laid out again for A4, A5, B5 or US Letter, so you can print it and file it in a binder.

09Customization

Suited to the way you plan

Set your holiday calendar, the first day of the week, and when your day starts and ends. Choose a page color from the palette or pick any color you like, and set the text size separately for the page and the calendar. You can even change the page color only on days that have events in a specific calendar.

The day's weather can be shown as well (Pro).
